Aged: 20 years

This 20 year old cask strength limited edition of 6,000 individually numbered bottles from refill American oak casks filled in 1989. Unusually this whisky is older than the distillery that made it lived for.

The only other official Pittyvaich bottling was as part of the Flora and Fauna series in 1991. There have been a few independent bottlings. The house style is sherried, with upfront fruit and spice.

Review and Tasting

Sampled before 1st May 2011

Appearance:

Clear, pale gold.

Aroma:

(reduced to approx 43%) Milk chocolate, linseed oil, bees wax, dried pineapple and wet flint.

Taste:

Green minerally notes of one-day old wet grass cuttings, sharp cooking apples smoothed by linseed oil and rich sherry.

Aftertaste:

Fresh, green finish to this unusual aperitif malt.
