Launched in May 2009 only 250 decanters of this rare malt were bottled, each in a Glencairn Crystal hand-blown decanter, individually numbered with an etching of the distillery.

These are presented in an 11-times lacquered piano-finished oak presentation box, embellished with gold plates on the front and hand-stitched cream leather interior. Each decanter comes with a dark brown leather and gold foil bound book signed by the Distillery manager, Robbie Hughes and containing tasting notes and background information on Glengoyne.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 08/10/2012

Appearance:

Deep golden with virgin olive oil-like green tinges.

Aroma:

Red apple skin dominates with prunes, fresh pear, crème brulee and strawberry meringue.

Taste:

Complex, integrated, dry palate has black cherry, coffee, fruitcake/rancio notes with wafts of smoke, dried hops and just enough oaky garnish.

Aftertaste:

Long dry finish has smoky fresh lemon thyme/grapefruit notes.
