A limited-edition (7,500 bottles) released in Japan at the end of March 2018. The name "SEI" comes from the Kanji character "勢" which means 'power' in Japanese, a reference to the 54.5% alc./vol. of this navy strength gin.

KI NO BI SEI is made with the same 11 botanicals, distilled in the same 6 flavour categories, as the classic KI NO BI dry gin.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 30/03/2021

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Spicy pine with yuzu/lemon sherbet and fresh root ginger.

Taste:

Intense citrusy fresh with black tea but with the all-important piney juniper to the fore. The spirituous spice packs the punch that comes with Navy strength.

Aftertaste:

Long piney juniper finish with freshening citrus and faint ginger.

Overall:

KI NO BI SEI is simply brilliant in a G&T and due to its intense flavour and Navy strength, you'll only need a 10 to 15% smaller measure than you'd pour for regular strength gins. When it comes to SEI, less is more flavour.
