Rollercoaster is a blend of whiskies from each year since the distillery’s reopening in 1997 up to and including casks from 2006. It is non-chill-filtered.

In 2000 the distillery formed the Ardbeg Committee to drum up the support of Ardbeg fans “To ensure the doors of the Ardbeg Distillery never close again”. The Committee now boasts 50,000 members throughout the world and ‘Ardbeg Rollercoaster’ was released in January 2010 to mark the fan club’s 10th Anniversary. Named after the rollercoaster ride the distillery has endured in recent decades, this limited edition bottling was only made available to members of the Committee.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 14/10/2010

Appearance:

Pale golden yellow.

Aroma:

(cut to approx 40%) Hint of grass covered dunes on a hot summer’s day with a beach BBQ cooking leaf covered corn-on-the-cob.

Taste:

Whilst the nose conjures up images of hazy days by the sea, the palate is more a rainy day viewed through the window of a smoke filled room. Vegetal notes fill the smoke influenced palate.

Aftertaste:

Also finishes salty.
