This blended (vatted) malt Scotch whisky is named after the honeyed sweetness found on the palate of this whisky and is said to represent the character of whiskies from the Speyside region.
The Hive is part of a range of Wemyss (prounced 'weems') blended malts with names also inspired by each whisky's flavour. As with other malts on the Wemyss range, this vatted malt has been developed in conjunction with the Scotch whisky writer Charlie Maclean.

Appearance:
Clear, golden yellow.
Aroma:
Buttery, lightly spiced gentle oak nose with subtle milky chocolate and endearing linseed oily vanillin aromas.
Taste:
Spicy oaky palate with bitter chocolate and grapefruit/zesty citrus flavours. Perhaps more vanilla-butter than the promised honey but on the sweeter side as malts go.
Aftertaste:
Malty, slightly bitter finish with citrus and chocolate flavours. Finishes with a lingering bonfire smokiness.
