A blend of Kingston Black apple juice (one of rarest vintage cider apples) and cider brandy, this is the West Country's answer to the fruit cup and is designed to be served in a similar manner to Pimm's.

Mix one bottle of chilled Kingston Black with one-and-a-half litres of well chilled lemonade, a small hand-full of bruised mint, some raspberries or strawberries and a wine glass of farm pressed Bramley apple juice and serve from a jug or punch bowl with ice. We also like served neat from the fridge as an alternative to sweet vermouth on the rocks.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/01/2011

Appearance:

(bottle No. K11 2277) Clear, bright golden amber.

Aroma:

Just fermented apple, stewed apple and apple pie with berry fruit and nubuck leather.

Taste:

Sweetened, slightly concentrated apple juice with sultana and prune. Very slightly sweet but in a balanced far from cloying way.

Aftertaste:

Long fresh apply, apple pie, toffee apple and sweet vanilla.
