Head Bartender at Nutmeg and Clove Born in Singapore, Sam Wong began his career in bartending at now-defunct Ministry of Sound as a Bar Back at the tender age of 21.
Pursuing his interest in concocting Asian-inspired cocktails and classic twists, Sam revamped the menu at Nutmeg and Clove to concentrate on the bar’s branding of Asian-centric cocktails using premium liquor and spirits.
In 2014, Sam was ranked 3rd as Singapore’s Best Bartender by City Nomad’s readers and shortlisted as Singapore’s Top 25 Bartenders in 2014 by Drinks World Asia. Sam was also selected by Singapore Tourism Board to represent and promote Singapore’s bartending scene in an exchange programmed held at Moscow, Russia in 2014.
In 2015, he was awarded Diageo World Class Finalist for Singapore and Southeast Asia. His concoction also won the 2015 Diageo World Class Southeast Asia Johnnie Walker Gold Label “Occasion Challenge”.
Cheeky and boyish in nature, Sam’s bartending philosophy is to be true and honest to oneself, and to ripple the joyous effect to the customers and those around him.
