Pleasant enough, with hints of cherry. Hardly a nightmare

Similar to the Wedding bells cocktail in Charles Schumann’s book, American Bar.

Well spotted. It is indeed similar to Schumann's Wedding Bells Cocktail, which for others is 22.5ml gin, 22.5ml Dubonnet, 7.5ml cherry brandy and 22.5ml orange juice shaken and strained into a coupe.

Adding a dash of orange bitter elevates this drink from pleasant to interesting

Great suggestion. I've tweaked the recipe and also added a dash of bitters.
