Fantastically easy little drink - refreshing with a hint of Turkish Delight from the Montenegro- made using Bunderburg ginger beer- a little too sweet so will make next time with Fevertree or else up the lime to 25-30ml.
I've been through 4 bottles of montenegro since I discovered this cocktail just before christmas.
It's a crowd pleaser and a great cocktail for friends who are driving but want something special.
Every friday at sunset, it's monte mule time!
I use lemon instead of lime and if I want it more boozy, I use 2 shots montenegro.
I know exactly what you mean. Each time I buy a bottle, I promise myself I will try some of the other great cocktails with it.
15 Monte Mules later, oh well, maybe next time...
Superb, relatively gentle yet flavoursome Mule. If you like Amaro Montenegro (who doesn't?) you'll love it. Certainly worth using a proper 'mixer' ginger beer, rather than an oversweet soft drink version (I used Fever Tree, as suggested). The amaro brings some sweetness along with its distinctive flavours, but that's offset by the omission of sugar syrup (as specified in the original Moscow Mule). Top job!
