Your nose is greeted by zesty orange then, with the first sip, smoky whisky hits your palate. As you work your way through this late-night sipper, so depleting...
This drink shows just how brilliant Sasha was. It uses only a few ingredients, but they’re put together so precisely that everything works perfectly. The hint of smoke, the orange citrus bitterness, the sweetness of the orange liqueur, and the fresh, vegetal character of the tequila. Most great classic cocktails have one thing in common: fewer ingredients and excellent technique. RIP, Sasha.
Was looking for a tequila evening sipper after a huge Mexican dinner. This was perfect.
While I liked the Whisky float, the cocktail seems to be more balanced if you swirl the glass to mix some of the Whisky into the tequila. Hint of orange is faint, but softens the edge.
Such a simple cocktail you need to have good ingredients. Wonderful balance.
