Dashes of bitters just keep this from wavering onto the sweet side of bittersweet. Honey adds delicate richness to rye whiskey and amaro

The salt is what makes a difference in this fabulous cocktail. Didn't have pimento bitters so I ground allspice with sea salt in a mortar and added a bit of hot water to get the flavours extracted. Used the finely strained mixture in place of bitters and saline solution.
