Please click "Read about cocktail measures and measuring" under each of our cocktail recipes for an explanation of conversion between shots, oz and ml. No mess here!

Dear Simon,
Today, my copy of the "cocktails #7" arrived. It sure is a bible! Some comments: the writing is quite small so reading in subdued light condition is impossible. I am saddened that you use "shots" for the measurements. I do understand that you are living in the USA so oz etc can not be avoided. I like to call these non-metric measurements Yesteryear Measurements. Would be nice to have the US adapt to the rest of the world and not, as usual, expect the contrary. Well, you and I cant change that.
With a marker I added 'shot' to 25ml on your measuring cup. Best regards from Tokyo, Andre

Hello Andre, our Cocktails #7 book was published in 2007 and we are now on Cocktails #18, published in December 2024. You sure do have a classic on your hands there 🙌 Since Cocktails #14, published in 2020 our books have displayed ml and oz.

Indeed, very clear and easy to understand. Thanks a lot for your great replies and support.
Just one note: most cocktails are very exotic needing all kinds of ingredients. The basics I have but not much more
which means either searching for some of the required ingredients or, looking for more simpler recipes. This is just a comment.

I only have a basic (free) account but find the website excellent for identifying which cocktails I can make. If you add all the ingredients you have available, including fruit juice, sugars etc., you can then select the ‘you can make’ button and it will filter the recipes for you. It’s such a great resource.

Hi Andre, there are a lot of cocktails and so many ingredients it's true! We try to cater for all and have a Cocktails Made Easy section of the website where we have some of the more simple recipes with less ingredients. You can also use Cocktail Builder to add the ingredients you have and we'll make suggestions on what you can make. Happy cocktail making!
