Almost an acknowledgement that drinking a martini is partly an excuse to nosh on some great pickled veggies. Good pickled onion recipe:

True. I say get creative with the garnish, much like a Bloody Mary. Personally I like adding some radish pieces onto the pick when I have them. The red-green-white looks nice. Will have to give those homemade cocktail onions a go too.
