It's not yet in the UK but is now available online in the following countries, Jeremy: Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and Austria.

you're so close to mainland Europe. Take a weekend in France and buy some Chartreuse. I returned from italy recently with 6 bottles and I live in San Francisco....

This is the closest thing I have found to replace Chartreuse. I estimate it is 80-90% of the green Chartreuse flavor, and it is close in alcohol content, too. It is a much better approximation than Strega on which the Internet seems to have settled.
