Originally Gilbeys (Mauritius) Ltd, the distillery and bottling plant which now operates as International Distillers Mauritius Ltd was established in 1972 as a joint venture between International Distillers & Vintners (now Diageo) and Development Bank of Mauritius. In February 2000, the distillery and its assets was acquired by a joint ventured between New Goodwill Investment Group and EUDCOS, an associate company of Medine Sugar Estate Group.
