Review

Scarfes Bar sits to the right as you walk under the arch into the courtyard entrance to the Rosewood hotel and is the hotel's main bar. It's been decorated to resemble a plush drawing room complete with open log fire, rich mahoganies, lampshades and bookshelves lined with leather-bound tomes behind low-slung couches.

Named after Gerald Scarfe, renowned British artist and caricaturist, his work adorns the bar's walls, adding colour and tong-cheek studious humour.

Despite the decor Scarfes isn't a bar to whisper in and groups of friends can be seen crowded around the fireplace sharing cocktails. The bar counter is the dominating feature with comfy blue stools to perch in and stare at the impressive back bar, filled with gins, rums and vodkas. Whiskey receives its own special cabinet with space dedicated to Japanese, American and Scotch single malts and blends.

The ever-changing and seemingly continuously more brilliant menu boasts a strong list of signature cocktails but the able bar team are also well versed in classic cocktails and we've found drinks to be consistently great. The bar food here is equally tasty.

Scarfes Bar is one of our favourite London bars and we love the three-piece jazz band that regularly play here.
