Scarfes Bar sits across the courtyard entrance from Holborn Dining Room and is the Rosewood hotel's official bar. It's been decorated to resemble a plush drawing room complete with open log fire, rich mahoganies, eclectic lamp shades and bookshelves lined with leather bound tomes behind low slung couches.
Named after Gerald Scarfe, renowned British artist and caricaturist, his work adorns the bar's walls, adding colour and tong-cheek studious hunour.
Despite the decor Scarfes isn't a bar to whisper in and groups of friends can be seen crowded around the fireplace sharing cocktails. The bar counter is the dominating feature with comfy blue stools to perch in and stare at the impressive backbar, filled with gins, rums and vodkas. Whiskey receives its own special cabinet with space dedicated to Japanese, American and Scotch malts and blends. The bars boasts 200 single malts.
The menu boasts a strong list of signature cocktails but the able bar team are also well versed in classic cocktails and we've found drinks to be well-balanced. The bar food here is equally tasty.
Scarfes Bar is charming edition to the growing Holborn scene and we love the jazz three-piece that regularly play here.
