Review

Hardly pretty or grand, as pubs go the Easton sits in an equally unattractive setting amidst utilitarian architecture in the arse end of Clerkenwell on the border with Kings Cross. The Easton's attraction is its food - Sunday roasts headed by Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, classic hearty gastro pub meals and bar snacks such as ham hock croquettes, scotch eggs and BBQ back ribs.

Occupying a corner site, large windows above built-in maroon banquet seating run around the two street walls of the large room. Well-worn vintage dining room tables dot the bare wooden floor with plenty of space between. What The Easton lacks in looks it makes up for with its airy spaciousness.

There's a trio of beers from Meantime and a good selection of Euro lagers on draught with two cask ales on handpump. The more than adequate drink offering extends to a small selection of cocktails including Easton Mule (vodka, ginger beer and maple syrup), Easton Espresso Martini and Negroni.

The food is on the high side of moderately priced, particularly as service is not included. However, we've found service both efficient and friendly so you won't begrudge tipping well.
