The talented and largely English bar team here will make you feel right at home in Lulu White's boudoir. A boudoir of some renown, for the Lulu (1868-1931) after which this bar takes its name was a New Orleans African-American brothel madam during the Storyville period.
Lulu Whites has something of a speakeasy feel to it and indeed there is a distinct lack of signage outside. Dark woods and shades of green feature in the Belle Époque influenced interior with the bare light bulbs that arc around the bar canopy reminiscent of a fairground ride.
Absinthe features heavily (partly due to it being a passion of Matt's, the bar manager) in the excellent cocktails which tend to be short and boozy, although there is always a very differently styled 'special' cocktail from the slushy machine on offer.
