Review

This stylish gastro pub sits bang opposite Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground, indeed the football club was founded in this very pub back in 1905, although in those days it was called The Rising Sun.

Hints of Chelsea FC blue are incorporated into the classic gastro pub interior with rustic bare brick, exposed floorboards and old, mismatched wooden tables and chairs (upholstered in the appropriate blue shade of leather). A high, communal centre table breaks up the space and adds to the conviviality. The overall effect is slick and modern yet warm and atmospheric.

The kitchen is visible through a couple of wall hatches and its food is worthy journeying to sample. The menu ranges from simple snacks such as Welsh Rarebit to an interesting and diverse full modern British menu.

A good wine list includes 20 wines by the glass with an additional choice of five dessert wines. The fair beer offering includes two cask ales and bottled offerings such as Brooklyn Lager.

Due to this pub's location you should be aware of when Chelsea FC are playing at home when planning your visit, handily you can check match days on the reservations area of the pub's own website.
