Review

With its unmarked entrance, high ceilings, and artfully exposed brick, Buenos Aires institution
Gran Bar Danzón has no doubt served as a model for many of the newer porteño cocktail bars. It's feels like it's trying a little too hard to be cool, with a long bar lit from below and danceable indie rock playing over the speakers, but the ambiance is nonetheless excellent.

Located close to the business district and stumbling distance from the nicest hotels in town, Danzón does most of its business with a mature afterwork crowd and well-informed tourists. The space is sophisticated, the service professional, and the cocktail list, massive. If none of the house takes on sours or juleps tickles your fancy, Danzón also has an impressive selection of Argentine wine by the glass. A restaurant area near the dark space's only windows offers a full dining menu, and happy hour (7 to 9 pm) features specials on cocktails, wine, and even sushi.
