Review

Le Prescription is a sister bar from the folk behind the Experimental Cocktail Club, promising accomplished drinks in dimly lit surrounds on the left bank.

Although spread over two floors, it's small, the space divided by a winding staircase. Everything in the place is similarly bijou - even the furniture in the small groups of seats is tiny.

A marble-topped bar seats six at a squeeze, dressed with plenty of mise en place to get your tastebuds going. Behind the bar are two shelves of spirits, plus the requisite crystal accoutrements from these experts in faux-vintage. A short list of classics and slightly more original twists are expertly served, well balanced, from chatty, well-travelled staff, though on busier nights it can take a while to get a drink.

Having been open for some time, the bar has clearly seen better days and is looking lightly worn around the edges - perhaps the reason it seems to have become rather more dimly lit since our last visit - but still a must-visit in Paris
