Review

Opened by Mourad Mazouz, the charismatic guy behind London's Momo's and Sketch, Andy Wahloo opened in 2003 on an unlikely street amongst some pretty ordinary-looking Chinese restaurants. Enter via a pretty courtyard - the entrance is to your right - with a small number of tables al fresco. Inside, it's east meets west with a cleverly contrived collection of graffiti, kitsch Pierre et Gilles artwork and provoking photography. There are geometric floor tiles, old Coke crates and paint pots for stools, fizzy drinks bottles as ornaments, and a French electro-house soundtrack.

The bar has a folksy, relaxed 'lived-in' appearance (for which read slightly messy), with the back-bar actually just a windowsill. The menu counts some classics among a short list, but clearly by the size of the mise en place mint leaves - a veritable bucket's worth - Mojitos are really what this bar serves. We found the drinks fair to decent, the vibe relaxed and enjoyable, though the service appropriately 'sketchy' and disinterested.
