The Dartdash replaces both the plastic screwcap and the plastic dasher insert in the neck of the bottle. You will need to prise this out. I use the small knife on a Waiter's Friend corkscrew but whatever you use, please take care!
Replacing the screwtop on a bitters bottle with a Dartdash does increase exposure to oxygenation and will accelerate the evaporation of alcohol. However, if using a bottle within a few months, then this is not an issue. Otherwise, perhaps replace the screwcap between uses.
