Bay at 5

Singapore is hardly short on skyline views, yet the view from the pool lounge of the Mandarin Oriental across to the three pillars of the Marina Bay Sands and the illuminated circle of the Singapore Flier is one not to miss.

Although only on the fifth floor, the cunningly stepped space draws a decent breeze on even the steamiest of nights.

With beds to lounge on, sofas, armchairs, a stunning pool, angular umbrellas and poolside cabanas, the general feel of Bay on 5 is that you could, quite easily, be in Miami. Except that it seems blissfully undiscovered.

You might want to make like an ex-pat and catch the 5-7pm Happy Hour at Morton's Steakhouse one floor down, with $10 martinis and freeflow sandwiches. Then wander up to this luxury poolside space for your choice of well-made cocktails and fine beers.
