Square One Organic Spirits was founded in 2006 by Allison Evanow, a drinks industry veteran who is also an environmentalist. Allison's vodka is made with 100 per cent organic American rye grown in North Dakota.

This is fermented using only organic yeasts and natural nutrients in a process certified by the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP). (By contrast, standard fermentation processes allow GMO yeasts, chemical additives and synthetic de-foaming agents.) The water used in Square One is drawn from the nearby Snake River watershed of the Teton mountain range in Wyoming. Four column continuous distillation produces a spirit which is hydrated with more Teton water, carbon filtered and bottled.

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Clean, neutral nose with faint toasty and cracked black pepper spirit notes.

Taste:

Wonderfully clean with subtle notes of charcoal, toasted rye bread, a hint of creamy sweetness and very faint rose water.

Aftertaste:

Clean, toasted finish with lingering black pepper spice.
