Following the 1959 revolution Cuba’s rum industry was nationalised, consequently Santiago de Cuba rums are made by the state at the former Matusalem distillery in Cuba’s Sierra Maestra region from sugarcane molasses. Santiago de Cuba Carta Blanca is oak aged for 3 years then charcoal filtered.

Appearance

Clear, slight straw yellow-green tint.

Aroma

Honeysuckle, melon skin, oxidised wine and faint herbal spice.

Taste

Light bodied and slightly sweet. Wine/vermouth-like and floral with faint white fruit.

Aftertaste

Lingering sweet floral notes with a hint of caramel.
