Created in 1988, Extra is a blend of Grande Champagne and Borderies (approx 30-35%), including eau-de-vie drawn from vintage reserves held at Chateau Courvoisier. The cognacs in this blend are 50-100 years old. Extra is presented in a tear-drop shaped hand-finished decanter.
(It's unusual for a cognac to contain Grande Champagne and Borderies without the addition of Petite Champagne.)
Sampled before 1st May 2011
Mushroom/truffle, liquorice, lavender, cedar wood and candied fruit nose.
Palate explodes on the tongue. Rich, beautifully spicy, harmonized with orange zest, dry apricot oaky Christmas cake, cigar leaves and cinnamon spice.
Long spicy, vanilla rich finish.
