Launched in January 2012, exclusively for the European market, Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish comprises the same blend of 45% Petite Champagne and 55% Grande Champagne, aged 4-14 years as traditional Rémy VSOP but with the final year of maturation in Limousin oak casks over 20 years old.
Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish is easy distinguished by its clear class bottle and black, mat silver and gold label. Rémy say that the final year of ‘Mature Cask Finish’, “enhances the peach and apricot notes due to the small size of the casks amplifying the exchange between the cognac and the air of the cellar” compared to the 60,000 litre vats used for its ‘traditional VSOP’.
In Europe the Mature Cask Finish replaces ‘traditional’ Rémy Martin VSOP which will be withdrawn from sale in February 2012. Other markets such as Asia and North America were ‘traditional’ VSOP continues to be sold will be unaffected by this change.

Clear, coppery gold.
Dried apricot, peach skin and scratched leather with very subtle orange zest, floral rose and violet.
Lighter and fruitier than Rémy’s ‘traditional’ VSOP with soft leather, vanilla crème brûlée, apricot and peach fruitiness.
Floral notes linger in the very slightly sweet, long fruity and spicy, leathery finish. Best summed up as being mellow and leathery.
Leather, Christmassy spice, orchard fruit and vanilla richness balanced by dry oaky notes.
