Pronounced ‘Thia-Co’ this “premium liqueur with sake” is gimmicky. If its green hue (comprising “certified color FD&C blue #1 and FD&C yellow #5”) were not lurid enough, Ty.Ku comes complete with an LED light embedded in the base of its triangular bottle. Just “press center to activate” the glow.
The marketing blurb and back label of Ty.Ku are wonderfully corny. To quote, “Within this bottle, over 20 all natural ingredients unite to bring you a unique experience with a clean crisp, refreshing taste”. “And while we cannot unveil all of the mystical properties within Ty.Ku, one taste will reveal everything you need to know”. One word more like.
The Ty.Ku marketing folk finish with, “whether poured solo or combined with other spirits and mixers, Ty.Ku is best served with an active imagination”. Anyway, according to the brand’s website some of those “20 all natural ingredients” include: yuzu, pomegranate, prickly pear, colong tea, honeydew and plum”. Plus let us not forget those colourings I mentioned earlier.

Slight cloud, bright-almost luminous harlequin green.
Less than appealing, hint of sake with aromas akin to washing-up detergent and oxidised lime juice.
Dominated by a flavour reminiscent of cooked lime juice and citric acid so masking the exotic fruits this product is said to include.
Acidic, cooked and oxidised lime juice.
