Brewed with 2-Row malting spring barley, hops and liquid candy sugar. Orval is dry hopped with East Kent Golding after fermentation. More sugar and Brettanomyces yeast is added to induce secondary fermentation. The art-deco influenced skittle-shaped brown bottles are stored for 3 tp 5 weeks at 15°C.
The Orval brewery started up inside the abbey in 1931 and is still overseen by the monks who live there. First brewed in 1932, this is their sole product– no line extensions – these brewers just aim to do the one beer very well.
