Made by infusing apricot pulp in neutral alcohol, the recipe dates back to 1935 when the city of Rome organised a grand exhibition where this liqueur won a competition to create a new Italian liqueur. Luxardo Apricot was awarded the title "Liquore della Lupa" (the liqueur of the Roman she-wolf).
