The Jacobite Collection - The Spirit of '45 is a limited release of just 150 bottles globally. It is based on a blend of 45-year-old whiskies, infused with Drambuie's secret recipe elixir of herbs and spices.

Launched at the Tax Free World Association exhibition in Cannes this September (2011) as part of The Jacobite Collection, The Spirit of '45 is presented in a hand-blown teardrop lead crystal decanter in a wooden presentation box containing a hand-etched crystal replica of the Spottiswoode glass with a crystal stopper to replace the cork stopper which the decanter comes sealed with. Also included is a hand-bound 32-page leather book detailing the story of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. The original antique-engraved Spottiswood glasses are treasured collectors' items from the 1800s and, at the time of the uprising, owning such a glass was an overt expression of sympathy for the Jacobite cause and considered a dangerous act of treason.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 02/10/2011

Clear, deep-golden amber.

Wonderfully fragrant honeyed earthy lavender nose with aromas of a greenhouse loaded with tomato plants, dried banana chips, vanilla extract, fresh mint and fennel.

Delicately citrusy honeyed silky palate with rich vanilla, desiccated coconut and delicate herbal flavours.

Herbal notes from the palate extend into the light, still honeyed floral finish.
