This 80/- Classic Scots ale is brewed in the remote island of Colonsay in the Sottish Hebrides.

Review and Tasting


Sampled on 21/10/2015

Appearance:

(sample best before end Nov/16) Clear, deep brown almost black with thin but retentive beige head and very light lacing.

Aroma:

Earthy coal dust, heavily toasted barley, burnt sugar, caramel and dark chocolate.

Taste:

Burnt toast, caramel, chocolate, chicory and dry piney hops. Very faint saltiness.

Aftertaste:

Dry Marmite (yeast extract), burnt toast and caramel with liquorice and coffee beans.

Overall:

Dark brown, almost black in appearance this 80/- Scots ale has burnt toast heavily roasted barley aromas and flavours with light chocolate, coffee and chicory notes.
