Launched in August 2013, Chocolate Luxe is a blend of Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur and Belgium chocolate, and is designed to replicate the experience of drinking melted chocolate. Said to be the first product to fuse real Belgian chocolate with alcohol, every 500ml bottle contains 30g of chocolate.
Note both the instruction to shake before opening and also the best before date. Store and serve from the refrigerator.
The 15.7% alc./vol. liqueur (1.3% lower than Baileys Original) was developed by Anthony Wilson, a scientist working for Diageo and the son of man who invented the original Baileys. Wilson tasted 800 types of chocolate, visited three continents and created nearly 200 variants before arriving at the Chocolat Luxe formula. He said he wanted to create an 'ambient molten chocolate experience akin to a "multi-sensory experience of eating chocolate".
