This liqueur is distilled from several different varieties of roses, supplied by a rose grower who specialises in cultivating old, forgotten rosevarieties, particularly those with a pronounced scent. Roosje Zonder Doornen is produced by a small family owned distillery in Amsterdam.
The name 'Roosje Zonder Doornen' litrally translates as 'rose without thorns'. The word Roosje means 'rose' but is also a Dutch girl's name that can be used to describe a beautiful women, as in the British phrase, "she is an English rose." The name also refers to a Dutch fairy tale. To paraphrase the producer's website: "A delightful young woman becomes more handsome when she's in love. After drinking this liquor she even smells as a rose, a rose without thorns."

Clear, rose pink.
Wonderfully floral, delicate rose, aromatic Turkish rose water.
Rich, slightly syrupy palate with complex flavours of rose, real Turkish delight, a touch of vanilla and enough alcohol to add bite and prevent becoming cloying.
Lingering velvety rose. Lacks that soapiness found on lesser rose liqueurs. Excellent.
