Ron Abuelo (literally 'Grandfather's rum in Spanish) is distilled from fermented molasses at the family-owned Varela Hermanos distillery in Panama. Aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of seven years.

Appearance:

Clear, burnished copper.

Aroma:

Resiny wood sap, buttery caramel, toffee banana and cinnamon.

Taste:

Initially sweet, dried fruit, nuts, orange zest toffee, leather and tobacco with cinnamon spice.

Aftertaste:

Long, dry woody, smoky, dried fruity, toffee finish.

Overall:

Full-bodied with rich buttery toffee, dried fruit, overripe banana and cinnamon spice.
