Released in April 2014 and limited to 2,850 cases (17,100 bottles), this is the second Loch Gorm Single Malt from Kilchoman (the first in April 2013). Matured five years exclusively in first fill oloroso sherry seasoned butts. Loch Gorm is the only all sherry cask-matured expression from Kilchoman.

Kilchoman’s Loch Gorm range is named after the peaty loch in front of the distillery on Islay and Kilchoman draws production water from the burn that runs alongside the distillery into the loch.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 26/04/2014

Appearance:

Clear, pale golden.

Aroma:

Pungent bonfire smoke, toasty barley, shoe polish, notes of fibreglass resin, walnuts and lemon zest. Water exposes green walnut notes.

Taste:

Very delicate honeyed sweetness perfectly balances dry smoke, mild clove spice and dry roasted nuts. Water dulls the smoky notes while enhancing nutty chocolate.

Aftertaste:

Nutmeg and mild clove spice, chocolate, delicate salty seaweed and delicate smoke.
