Catskill

Catskill by Robyn Massey

Serve in a

Martini glass

Garnish:

To flame an orange peel, use a large, thick skinned navel orange. Cut a thin oval peel. Hold a lit match in one hand, and pick up the peel in the other hand on its sides, not the ends. Squeeze the zest side over the flame to release the citrus oil over the drink. Drop the peel into the drink, zest side up.

How to make:

First, prepare a "simple [maple] syrup" by combining equal parts of maple syrup and water in a small container or jar; shake vigorously. This recipe calls for 1/4 fl oz maple syrup and 1/4 fl oz water to yield 1/2 fl oz of simple maple syrup. Now you are ready to start mixing!

Shake all the ingredients, including the simple maple syrup, with ice and strain into a martini glass.

Garnish with a flamed orange peel. Enjoy!

1/2 fl oz Heering Cherry Liqueur
1 1/2 fl oz Bourbon whiskey
1/2 fl oz Cointreau triple sec liqueur
1/2 fl oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
1/4 fl oz Maple syrup
1/4 fl oz Chilled water
1 drop Angostura or other aromatic bitters
