First created in 1947 by Ronald Morrison, a wine merchant and whisky blender in Leith, then a bustling port providing the then exotic ingredients he used to flavour the Scotch whisky base. These include: Mediterranean tangerines, almonds, honey, cinnamon, star anise and other spices.
Morrison was originally from the Isle of Lewis and employed several Gaelic speakers and the liqueur's name comes from the Gaelic phrase 'glé mhath', pronounced 'glay-va', and meaning ‘very good’ - said to be the spontaneous comment of the tasters during the original formulation of the liqueur.
The Autumn of 2009 saw Glayva repackaged with a more modern looking black and copper label.

Επίγευση:
Lingering warming honeyed spice.
Συνολική αίσθηση:
The flavours are harmonious and this silky sweet liqueur is easier and less spirity than other perhaps more complex whisky liqueurs.
