A base of French wheat neutral spirit is redistilled in an “ancient copper pot whisky still” (at an undisclosed distillery - we suspect Langley) with six botanicals: Lebanese mint, juniper, coriander, angelica, cassia, orris root lemon and orange peels.
Daffy’s is then reduced to bottling strength using Scottish water (municipal water or other source is not disclosed).
The blond haired figurehead illustration of ‘Daffy’ on the bottle was painted in 2014 by Robert McGinnis, the artist behind the Breakfast at Tiffany, James Bond and Barberella posters.

(bottle No. 4741) Crystal clear.
Pronounced woody and nutty angelica root with coriander seed spice and floral eucalyptus pine.
Dry and resinous piney juniper, zesty citrus, cassia and coriander seed spice. There is an underlying minty note but without being told of the use of Lebanese mint we’re not sure we’d have identified it as such.
More nutty angelica is very evident in the finish.
This is a dry and nutty London dry gin with a traditional taste profile. The use of Lebanese mint is judicious and integrates with the other botanicals rather than being the headline act as the brand’s marketing perhaps suggests.
