Now in its eighth year, National Calvados Week returns with celebrations across the UK between 19th - 25th October 2020.

Calvados hails from Normandy, but in recent decades the French apple brandy has been growing in popularity across the globe.

Calvados is an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, meaning the spirit can only be made following strict methods in designated areas. Made using apples that are washed, crushed and then pressed, the juice undergoes fermentation before the liquid is distilled. Finally, the liquid is aged in French oak barrels for at least two years.

National Calvados Week coincides with the beginning of the apple harvest, beginning from mid-October into December in France. The apple-based spirit can be served on-the-rocks, straight up, or enjoyed as a cocktail base – and National Calvados Week offers the ideal opportunity for a tasting. Explore 20 of the best calvados cocktails.
