Celebration distillery makes Old New Orleans Rum, a brand conceived and born in the back streets of the city's 9th Ward by a band of artists and musicians, led by celebrated New Orleans-based artist James Michalopoulos who invested in the production of Old New Orleans Rum after returning from a lucrative European painting tour.
In 1995 an ancient cotton warehouse on Frenchmen Street was acquired to house the production of Old New Orleans Rum and in 1999 the first white rum, Old New Orleans Crystal, was put on the market.
