Review

Part bar, part art gallery, Rey de Copas strikes the perfect balance between classy and laid back. It sits in an airy and white-walled converted Palermo mansion, decked out with French and Moroccan décor and plenty of stunning modern art. The front room and downstairs patio serve as a restaurant space, while the main bar can be found in a more intimate back room. On busier nights a second bar area opens on the rooftop terrace.

The drinks list is short and sweet, featuring house cocktails that change seasonally and a few classics, including two barrel-aged offerings: a Negroni and a Rob Roy. The Mediterranean fare on offer, while not spectacular, is nonetheless a nice change from all that heavy Argentine steak. And the bartenders are not only skillful but also some of the friendliest and most accommodating in the city, so if you're early enough to snag one of the handful of bar stools, you won't regret it.
