Review

Gothic style and Latin-influenced cocktails in a stylish restaurant bar helmed by a celebrity chef.

Yugoslavian chef Ljubomir Stanisic is Portugal’s answer to Gordon Ramsay, and Bistro 100 Maneiras is the slightly less formal extension of his renowned restaurant group.

The décor, with ample assistance from Hendrick’s, is jawdropping. Bonkers Victorian gothic window displays lead through to walls stabbed with kitchen knives, lined with frond-filled cabinets, and adorned with Alice in Wonderland theatrics. A suspended staircase seems to hover in mid-air.

The bar area is petite, with Chesterfields, counter stools and a couple of small tables, but is very much a destination in its own right. Able bar staff shake, stir, throw, charge, roll and blowtorch a wealth of fruit-led yet adult cocktails with distinct Latin American influences courtesy of cachaça, mezcal and more. Combined with the soundtrack, this makes it feel very much more than a restaurant bar.
