Review

The third installment in the Sven Almenning conglomerate, after Eau-de-Vie Melbourne, The Roosevelt "refashions" classic cocktails set to a classic rock 'n' roll theme, in an elegant environment of black leather, cabinets of cocktail ephemera and, yes, rock 'n' roll.

The menu currently features a number of drinks with liquid nitrogen, including a martini shaken with the cold stuff. These were originally served from a mobile nitrogen trolley, but recent legislation governing the use of liquid nitrogen in bars has left the trolley stranded in the middle of the room.

The innovative degustation menu has also moved on, replaced by a short and well-thought-out menu of refashioned classics, from punches through to fancy drinks with rosewater clouds, apricot ice spheres, honeycomb and similar, and a food menu that majors on Americana, such as oysters with a Bloody Mary dressing.
