Introduced in 1990, this single-barrel Kentucky straight bourbon takes its name from the farm in Leestown, Kentucky where Benjamin Harrison Blanton settled after he had made his fortune in 1849 during the Californian Gold Rush. In 1869 he built the Old Fire Copper distillery on his land.
The distillery passed through different hands until Benjamin’s son, Albert eventually took over the running of the distillery. The distillery was renamed the Ancient Age Distillery in 1969.

Presented in a decanter style bottle with a natural cork stopper, Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery using the distillery's "Rye Mash #2" recipe.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 02/04/2012

Appearance:

Clear, coppery golden.

Aroma:

Rich vanilla notes on a fairly closed nose which takes a while to yield toasted grain and dried fruit with marshmallow/ candy jar aromas, spearmint and delicate cardamom spice.

Taste:

Delightfully pitched, tightly integrated palate with fruit cake, roasted nuts, rolling tobacco, cacao, a touch of toffee and light cracked black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Cleansing cracked black pepper and dark cacao.
