Fred and Patrick van Zuidam, a second generation father and son distilling team, make a wide range of liqueurs and spirits as well as their eponymous gin. They distil each of the botanicals separately in an 850 litre antique copper still and then blend these distillates with neutral grain spirit.

Fresh Spanish oranges and lemons are used instead of dried peels alongside seven other botanicals: Italian juniper berries and orris root, Moroccan coriander, whole Madagascar vanilla beans, Indian liquorice root, Sri Lankan cardamom and angelica root.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 17/02/2012

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

A scent rather like just-watered earth (orris root?) mingles with the more upfront juniper and citrus.

Taste:

Invigorating, clean and fresh, slightly steely with citrus zestiness, angelica, juniper, cardamom and a hint of peppery spice.

Aftertaste:

Long, cleansing pine fresh finish with parma violets.
