The strongest beer from the only Trappist brewery in the Netherlands meaning the beer is brewed under the supervision of monks at the abbey. The Quadrupel brew is aged in oak barrels and left to rested during secondary bottle fermentation in the cellars.
Sampled on 29/09/2012
(best before Jun-15) Cloudy reddish teak brown with a thick white head and medium lacing.
Vinous blackened Christmas cake, caramel and a touch of coriander spice.
Strong alcohol strength all to present with sweetened bread, prunes and burnt raisins.
Lingering vinous fruit. Overpowering alcohol upsets what little balance there is.
