This is only the second peated whisky Glenfiddich has produced, the first being Glenfiddich 125 Year Old released in 2013. Glenfiddich Vintage Cask is matured in European and American oak ex-Bourbon casks before final maturation period (at least two month) in Solera tuns.

One of three single malts launched 11-September 2013 as the first releases in the Glenfiddich Cask Collection, a series of malts aimed at global travel retail (duty free) created using Glenfiddich’s Solera Vat technique.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Clear, burnished coppery amber.

Aroma:

Hay barn and smoky bonfire with vanilla, peat and autumnal forest floor.

Taste:

Slightly sweet and vegetal before peaty smoke and vanilla emerge and dominate with underlying sweetness, vanilla fudge, cinnamon and nutmeg spice.

Aftertaste:

Sweet cinnamon with faintly smoky, toasty light oak.
