Texels Winterbier (Texel Winter Beer) is a seasonal, top-fermented ale brewed using 95% roasted malted barley grown on Texel and a little roasted wheat malt and citrus peel. No herbs or spices are added to this beer.

Texels Winterbier is unfiltered and continues to ferment in the bottle with a small amount of yeast sediment present. It is available from early December each year.

Review and Tasting


Sampled before 1st May 2011

Appearance:

Cloudy with some sediment, chestnut brown with small beige head.

Aroma:

Malty caramel, toasted ryebread nose with cut grass and freshly cooked doughbread aromas.

Taste:

Malty mocha coffee palate with subtle pine hop notes and sweet liquorice.

Aftertaste:

Slightly bitter instant coffee finish ending with mocha coffee and bread dough.
